COLUMBUS CULINARY INSTITUTE STUDENTS WIN U.S.COLLEGIATE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Columbus, OH--The carving club from the Columbus Culinary Institute at Bradford School competed and won first place on October 1 and 2 at the 2010 U.S. Collegiate National Championships.  The Columbus Culinary Institute’s “Columbus Carving Artists” is led by Chef Instructor Nicole Bennett, C.E.C., A.O.S. and Associate Chef Instructor Jeffrey Cole. The Columbus State Community College Culinary Team participating in its first ‘Carve’ Competition, was coached by Greg Butausky of Rock On Ice, and won second place in the competition.

The event was hosted by The Farmers’ Market in Holland, Michigan.  The city of Holland has hosted this vegetable carving competition called “The Carve” for the past two years.

Teams of culinary students from across the Midwest competed in the High School Division and the People’s Choice competition.  Some of the competitors in the Collegiate division were, the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Akron, Oakland Community College, and Grand Rapids Community College.

The Columbus Culinary Institute at Bradford School, located in a state-of-the art facility 1.5 miles south of the Easton Towne Center, offers an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts. Columbus State Community College, located in downtown Columbus, offers an Associate of Applied Science in Hospitality Management. The Culinary Apprenticeship and the Restaurant and Foodservice Management majors offered at Columbus State are accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation, Inc.
