We make mead. Simply put mead is wine made from honey.

Meanwhile, in 1998, Woody moved back home to Ohio to be closer to his family in Newark.   Eric Drake was in school at the time, and had access to the internet, a rare option in the late 90′s.   Eric was able to pull up mead recipes online and tapped into a whole homebrew community that inspired him to start making mead as well.

So, after winning several awards from local homebrew competitions and then 3rd place at the American Homebrew Association competition…. Woody and  his brother, Eric Drake, were both convinced that this was the life for them.

In 2004 we wrote out an LLC and formed Brothers Drake.  In 2007, we secured the space on Oak Street and cast yeast on several varieties of meads.  In 2008, we open Brothers Drake Fine Mead to the public.  It takes 6-11 months to make a mead, depending on the recipe.
