WBNS 10-TV Family Fund

Every month, a staggering number of people in central Ohio face days without enough to eat. In an average month, Franklin County soup kitchens serve 105,000 meals to people who have nowhere else to turn.
The need for feeding the hungry is critical throughout the year, but the hurt seems more apparent during the holidays, when most of us are enjoying huge meals with our families while others are facing extreme hardships to provide even meager meals on their tables to feed their families.
Recognizing this need, WBNS-10TV established a fund in 1988 to help address this problem. The WBNS 10TV Family Fund is a publicly supported, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to assist in the alleviation of hunger by providing nutritious meals for needy Central Ohio families during the holiday season. Its primary objective is to feed no less than 2,000 families annually. In December of 2005 the 10TV Family Fund fed 5,300 families.
Feeding 5,300 families requires money and community assistance. Funds are raised throughout the year through television viewer support and special events. Money raised from these projects help purchase food, which is subsequently distributed to needy families.
From 1988 2005 the 10TV Family Fund provided 431,588 meals to poverty-stricken families throughout central Ohio.
The WBNS-10TV Family Fund is solely dependent on year-round, tax deductible community donations and special events for its support. Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds from fund raising events for the WBNS 10TV Family Fund go to feeding needy families right here in Central Ohio. All promotional and administrative costs are donated by WBNS 10TV.
